Jonathan Loevner leads acquisitions for New Forests US’ timberland asset management and forest carbon offset project finance strategies. His responsibilities include investment strategy, deal origination, due diligence, transaction structuring, counterparty negotiation, and transaction closing. Jonathan also manages the sale of forest carbon offset credits. Prior to joining New Forests, Jonathan served in various roles in the acquisition and divestiture group at the Weyerhaeuser Company, including as a transaction manager and valuations analyst. He performed timberlands valuations for hundreds of transactions and built a portfolio model covering the entirety of the company’s 13 million acre portfolio. Before launching his career in timberland investing, Jonathan served as a natural resource and finance policy advisor to a member of the US Congress. He holds a Master of Forestry and Master of Business Administration from Yale University, where he was a Wyss Conservation Scholar, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Latin American History from Carleton College. Jonathan is a member of the Forest Stewards Guild.
